THE annual YMCA King of the Mountain event has again proved a success with hundreds of runners and walkers taking part.

​Alice Springs residents got the opportunity to run and walk up the iconic Mount Gillen in the event, with over 200 people turning out for the day.

With the emphasis largely on participation, there were still some impressive times with Karl Baddeley crowned the King of the Mountain.

Karl finished the course in 33:23:5 to lead all comers home, closely followed by international representative Emma Kraft.

Emma took out the Queen of the Mountain title, being the first female across the finish line with an impressive time of 35:58:5.

Shane Caden rounded out the podium of the Run category.

In the walking category, Alice Springs legend Debbie Page was the first across the finish line with a time of 54:11:2.

She was closely followed by Anatola Taylor who registered a time of 59:09:4.

In the men's walking category, Benjamin Taylor claimed the first place medal with a time of 59:09:6 to finish third overall.

The second male across the finish line was Yoshiko Tsubota.
