Child Care Support

We are pleased to see new Federal Government incentives to support working families needing child care during these unprecedented times.  However, as this information has only just been released, we do not yet have all the details.  Be assured that we are as keen as you are to understand what this means for you and will analyse and update you as soon as possible. Closure of all YMCA Recreation and Aquatic Facilities

The situation around coronavirus (COVID-19) is rapidly evolving.  We are working on advice from the Northern Territory Government, in association with the Chief Medical Officer and the Department of Health to understand how the YMCA of the NT can support all measures to protect the health of our team, our patrons and our communities.

As directed, to reduce the spread of COVID-19, in conjunction with our contract partners, we are temporarily closing YMCA of the Northern Territory Recreation and Aquatic Facilities.

All YMCA NT aquatic facilities will be temporarily closed from close of business Wednesday 25 March until further notice. All programs and services will cease during the closure period.

When will the centre close?

Close of business, 25 March 2020

What happens with my membership or visit pass?

Members

All direct debit memberships will be paused for the duration of the closure. You will not be charged for the period of time we are closed.

Term memberships will be paused for the duration of the closure. This expiry date will be extended based on the closure timeframe.

Visit pass holders

Visit pass expiry dates will be extended based on the closure timeframe.

Suspensions

No suspension fees or limits will apply during the closure timeframe.

Temporary closure of Aquatic Programs

The situation around coronavirus (COVID-19) is rapidly evolving.  We are working on advice from the Northern Territory Government, in association with the Chief Medical Officer and the Department of Health to understand how the YMCA of the NT can support all measures to protect the health of our team, our patrons and our communities.

In order to ensure the health and safety of our patrons, and adhere to current social distancing requirements, all Aquatic programs will be cancelled effective from opening Tuesday 24 March until further notice.

This includes all Aquatic group fitness and Learn to Swim programs. 

The Swimming Pool will remain open at this stage, for lap swimming and general use with patrons to practice social distancing. We will advise immediately if this situation changes.
 
When will the programs close?
From commencement of business on Tuesday, 24 March 2020

What happens with my term membership or missed lessons?
Term memberships and missed lessons will be credited for use when the centre reopens.

Update: 23/03/2020

  • As mandated by the Federal Government, all gyms and recreation centres will temporarily close as of 12:00pm (noon) today, Monday 23 March 2020. The following centres will be closed:

  • - Kilgariff Recreation Centre
    - Henry Scott Recreation Centre
    - Palmerston Swimming and Fitness Centre – Gym only

  • Please note:

  • There are no confirmed cases of the virus among any of our centre staff or members

    All memberships, including term memberships and visit passes, will automatically be placed on suspension during the period of closure and you will not be charged

    The Swimming Pool at Palmerston Swimming and Fitness Centre will remain open at this stage. A limit of 100 patrons on site at any time is now in effect.

    Due to the vulnerability of the young people who access the Youth Services that usually run at Henry Scott Recreation centre, the youth programs will continue but in a modified, outdoor environment with strict hygiene and social distancing measures in place.
